School Reopening 4th January 2021
As you are aware COVID 19 rates are soaring in Cumbria. Over the weekend County lobbied the DfE to keep all Cumbrian primary schools closed for the next two weeks. This was in response to the level of infections and that local hospitals were ‘nearing breaking point’. Unfortunately, this was rejected but County’s viewpoint is that it remains unsafe to open all primary schools at the moment.
Our prime concern is keeping all children, staff and families safe and well. Staff and governors have discussed the current situation over the weekend and we have decided to remain open. However, if you wish, and are able to, keep your child at home we would encourage you to do so. We know that this will not be possible for all of you and everyone’s circumstances are different, if you would like to discuss your individual family’s needs, then please feel free to contact me.
This will be reviewed regularly and we will keep you updated. We will be setting home learning and this will be sent out over the next few days.
I apologise for the extremely late notice but I was only informed yesterday evening of the DfE’s rejection of Cumbria’s plan. If you decide to keep your child at home, please let me know as soon as you can. I will keep you fully informed of this developing situation.
Many thanks and best wishes
