The King’s Coronation
On Friday 5th May the school have decided to celebrate the King’s Coronation. As well as the Garden party we will be marking the event with other exciting ideas:
Own clothes- red, white and blue theme
Whole school picnic on the field.
Children’s Bake Off- scone theme
Parent Bake Off
Scarecrow competition- royal character theme (to be made at home)
Crown competition- make at home and brought in on the day
The children are encouraged to come to school on the Friday wearing their own clothes – but with a red, white and blue theme.
We will also be having a whole school picnic on the field. The Orian school dinner choice is for a picnic that day. This is an option if you would prefer not to make a packed lunch yourself!
We will also be holding a children’s Bake Off competition that day – but with a theme of scones! If your child would like to bake any form of scone (sweet or savoury) then please just bring their entries into school on the morning of the 5th. There will be prizes and all entries will be served at the Garden Party in the afternoon!
The children in Class 4 have also asked for the parents to take part in a Bake Off!! Again all entries will be used at the Garden Party after judging and tasting. If you wish to provide a cake not to be entered into the Bake Off, but used to serve in the afternoon tea, they will be gratefully received. Prizes will be available for adults too. Good luck.
In recognition of the Coronation there will be a Scarecrow competition. The theme will be based around the Royals and the children can be as creative as they like! Wooden frames will be available from outside school on Friday and all entries will remain on display for the village to see.
The children will be learning a song too, to be showcased on the day, as well as creating their own pieces of memorabilia to take home.
If you have any questions or suggestions on how to help celebrate the Coronation, then please do let us know. We will hopefully see you all at the Garden Party on Friday 5th May.
Best wishes,
Simon Brabant
