Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the Autumn term. The children have been settling in well over the last few days, it is lovely to see lots of excited children arriving at school each day. Over the next few weeks, we will be learning about ‘Ourselves and Our Families’, before moving on to the changing season of ‘Autumn’. I would be grateful if you could send in a photo via email of your family. This could be a photo of your immediate family, who lives in your house or your extended family. My email address is hireland@storth.cumbria.sch.uk.

I will be setting up Tapestry logins for new children in Class 1. Once activated by yourself you will be able to access photos of your child’s learning in school. Over the Summer holidays, I sent a link for a download of your child’s Tapestry journal from last year. You can download this to a device at home for you to keep. We stop using Tapestry as your child leaves Reception.

We will be doing PE on a Friday morning, Reception children will be given their first PE t-shirt and shorts this week. Nursery children just need to come to school dressed in suitable clothing for PE, eg leggings or joggers and a t-shirt. They are not expected to get changed. We will begin our outdoor learning sessions in a few weeks time. I will send further information regarding clothing soon.

Mrs Barker sent an email regarding tuck shop last week. If you would like your child to have this snack it is 20p per day. This can be paid by cash or BACs. If you have paid via BACs please could you let me know? Unfortunately, if you do not tell me that you have paid your child will not be given tuck. The children have been sampling the school dinners and all have at least been tried! Please talk to your child about whether they enjoyed their lunch, as an alternative might be preferred next time it comes around. Also, please ensure that you order a dessert and the main meal, in addition to cancelling your order if your child is absent.

Just a quick reminder to send in a named water bottle each day and your child’s book bag.

Kind regards

Helen Ireland
